India

India is a spoiled princess of a cat, commanding respect from everyone in the office.  She enjoys the finer things in life- observant vistas, slow walks, and cat naps.  She does not bother with the childish adventures of Percy and Linen.  Refusing to learn mundane ‘tricks’ for treats like Percy has done, India prefers to be hand-fed because she believes that’s the proper relationship between humans and the far superior feline species.

She is usually found napping in Susan’s office or in Christine’s inbox.

Persimmon a.k.a. ‘Percy’

Persimmon, the only cat of the bunch with true street credit, was rescued from a farm in West Baton Rouge Parish.  With a name like that, he quickly learned to defend himself from the other neighborhood felines.  Through the years after arriving in Baton Rouge, he was nurtured by the office and he grew into a healthy meatball of a cat.  Along the way, he eventually shortened his name to the more masculine ‘Percy.’

On most days, he can be found lounging within the grounds of the office or laying across Brian’s desk.  Percy has developed a bond with Brian since he arrived in the spring of 2011.  Percy is smarter than most, and has artfully learned how to sit, lay down, and roll over.  Make no mistake; Percy will do just about anything for food.

Linen

‘Linen’ is such a refined and gentlemanly name placed on such a raw and playful cat.  Perhaps that was a subtle joke played on Susan when she was browsing and ultimately selected him from Cat Haven, a cat rescue service in Baton Rouge.  He is the youngest and most rambunctious of the group.  After arriving in the summer of 2011, Linen has become the unwanted disturbance in the otherwise slow southern lifestyles of Percy and India.  On most days, he can be found chasing India, chasing Percy, or chasing his tail.

For unknown reasons, he enjoys the awkward perch above the back support of Christine’s chair, and sometimes in Nick’s lap.  Linen is also the only cat to briefly and bravely test the use of John’s office as a kitty playground.

Kashmir a.k.a. Lil' Kitty

Kashmir magically appeared in the office over one weekend in the fall of 2013.  She was a rescue cat who had been saved from the New Iberia Animal Control before Susan adopted her at the local farmers market on that fateful saturday morning!

Kashmir has fit in perfectly with the other felines, and she loves to lounge in the windows on a lazy afternoon.  Although she is the little sister of the bunch, she matches Linen in wit and frequently wrestles with him while Percy and India watch with little amusement.  Linen takes care of her and they can often be found hugging each other during nap time.  She also likes to sit on laps while humans are trying to work.  Catnip is her favorite treat flavor.
